Synopsis
European equity markets are set to open mixed amid Asian equities mixed Tuesday. S&P 500 futures flat afterhours ahead of US Independence Day holiday on Tuesday. Aussie pulling lower, euro seeing minor losses, dollar steady elsewhere. Commodities mixed with crude pushing higher, gold flat and base metals drifting lower.
On today's agenda, EU-UK Parliamentary Partnership Assembly concludes; address by EP President Metsola opens session.EU Commission set to unveil new legislation that boosts enforcement of European privacy investigations; press conf 11:00CET. In Germany, Chancellor Scholz hosts Romanian PM Ciolacu whilst Irish government is set to publish the Summer Economic Statement. Elsewhere, 10th EU-Chile Joint Consultative Committee takes place. In central banks, Bank of Italy's Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) presents Annual Report at 11:30CET.
In the UK, House of Commons gets underway with MP's topical questions on Energy Security and Net Zero, whilst PM Sunak answers questions from Liaison Committee at 14:00BST and other committee topics include Bank of England: how is independence working? 15:00 (Treasury officials).
Other events see Paris Europlace forum panellists today include execs from Amundi, Axa, BNP Paribas, Rothschild & Co.
Macroeconomic releases due today include: Germany May trade balance and Spain Jun unemployment change.
On a light earnings/trading updates front, Flow Traders (FLOW.NA) expects Q2 2023 Normalized Net Trading Income of approx. €49M and Normalized Other Income of approx.€2M. ActiveOps (AOM.LN), FastPartner (FPAR.B.SS), Kitwave Group (KITW.LN), Solid State (SOLI.LN) are expected to update the market today.
