BNY collects fees from DR holders pursuant to the terms and conditions of the DRs and any deposit agreement under which they are issued.  From time to time, BNY may make payments to an issuer to reimburse and/or share revenue from the fees collected from DR holders, or waive fees and expenses to an issuer for services provided, generally related to costs and expenses arising out of establishment and maintenance of the DR program.  BNY may pay a rebate to brokers in connection with unsponsored DR issuances; brokers may or may not disclose or pass back some or all of such rebate to the DR investor.  BNY may also use brokers, dealers or other service providers that are affiliates and that may earn or share fees and commissions.

  • Synopsis:

    • Asian markets set for a negative start to Thursday trade. Nikkei, Hang Seng and ASX futures all pointing to losses on the open. S&P 500 futures edging higher after US indexes posted worst session since late April. Australian and New Zealand yields pushing higher, tracking Treasury curve steepening. FX markets steady after dollar hit one-month high against yen. Commodity markets little changed after crude pulled back following record US inventory draw.

    • Fallout continues from Fitch's downgrading of US credit rating. Downgrade blamed in part for Wednesday's risk-off move though sell-side firms downplayed significance for Treasuries given market's importance relative to other sovereign assets. Backup in yields more a function of BOJ's recent YCC tweak, run of stronger-than-expected economic data, still-tight labor markets and Fed pivot skepticism.

    • JGB 10Y yield highest since early 2014, up 17 bp following BOJ YCC tweak on Friday. Backup in yields has heightened attention on JGB operations after central bank made resumed unscheduled purchases Monday in bid to tamp down volatility. While tweak generated speculation about BOJ's next policy move, Deputy Governor Uchida on Wednesday reiterated commitment to monetary easing.

    • BOE expected to hike by 25 bp at Thursday's meeting. Previews have not ruled out BOE repeating June's shock 50 bp increase given still-elevated elevation. However, peak rate forecasts have come down following downside surprise in June CPI and a slowing UK economy. Still, most economists believe most likely time for a pause will not come until November.
