  • Synopsis:

    • Asian markets set for a mixed start to Friday trade. Nikkei futures pointing to gains on the open as Japan markets resume trade following Thursday holiday. ASX higher in initial trade while Hang Seng futures signaling losses. S&P 500 futures unchanged in offshore session where US markets were closed for Thanksgiving. Asian bond markets extending losses with Aussie curve steepening. Muted price action in FX and commodity markets.

    • China authorities continue efforts to ease pressure on developers amid reports banks will be allowed to issue unsecured loans for working capital. Adds to flurry of policy support announcements over past week that have driven sharp rebound in property stocks. Developments also tying into debate over prospects of additional rate cuts. According to Bloomberg survey, PBOC expected to keep MLF rate steady in December vs prior forecast for a five bp cut. However, some economists clinging to expectations of another RRR cut by year-end.

    • In other developments, Japan core inflation rose by less than forecast, though still well above BOJ's 2% target. New Zealand retail sales much stronger than expected with volume growth driven by discretionary categories. New Zealand center-right government formed after parties struck coalition agreement. China shadow bank Zhongzhi said it is heavily insolvent in letter to investors.
