Synopsis
European equity markets set for a positive open amidst Asian equities mostly higher Tuesday. US CPI to take spotlight later ahead of Federal Reserve meeting.
European macro data releases on the calendar include Netherlands Nov CPI +1.6% y/y vs preliminary +1.6%. Also due today, Germany Dec ZEW economic sentiment, UK Nov claimant count, Oct unemployment rate, Netherlands Nov final CPI
Also on today's agenda, On Tue, EU Council of Ministers for General Affairs meeting. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol pays state visit to The Netherlands. In UK, parliamentary committee topics include work of the Financial Conduct Authority (10:15GMT), MoD Annual Report and Accounts (10:30), National Infrastructure Commission (10:30), UK's new relationship with the EU (14:00), implications of Russia's invasion of Ukraine for UK-EU relations (15:00). Norway's PM Støre is present at the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize. European Banking Authority (EBA) to release its 2023 Risk Assessment Report and transparency exercise with bank by bank data at 18:00CET.

In earnings news, Nokia (NOKIA.FH) lowered its comparable operating margin target to be achieved by 2026 from prior of "at least 14%" to at "least 13%" and issued planning assumptions for 2024. Carl Zeiss Meditec (AFX.GR) reported FY earnings and reaffirmed that in the medium term, the Company expects to be able to stabilize its EBIT margin sustainably above 20%. Wendel (MF.FP) announced long term targets and dividend increase ahead of tomorrow's investor day.
