Synopsis
European equity markets are set to open mixed amidst Asia equities trading mostly higher Tuesday in a quiet session. Region being powered by gains in Japan and Greater China markets. Taiwan and Singapore also ahead, India flat to follow yesterday's steep losses. Australia lower, South Korea giving up some of Monday's gains.
All eyes on US election today with race extremely close after slew of polls indicated Trump and Harris deadlocked in battleground states that will decide election. Trump still betting market favorite though his odds have narrowed over recent days after some polls favored Harris. Result may not be known on the day with market volatility expected until there is clearer visibility on which party wins control of White House and Congress.
Also on today's agenda, in the UK, MPs continue to debate the budget, whilst committee topics include the budget (10:00GMT with reps of the Office of Budget Responsibility, 14:00 include rep of Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS)), grey belt (10:45 includes rep from Barratt Redrow (BTRW.LN)) and Science, Innovation and Technology (14:15, government minister). Chancellor Scholz hosts Somali President Hassah Sheikh. Economist Croatia Business Summit, EU's Šuica among the speakers. UK Oct new car registrations are due to be released
In central banks, Bank of Latvia's Kazāks address at 9:10 CET at Latvia Fintech Forum and BOE's Bailey speech at 9:20GMT at Assn British Insurers conf. ECB's Lagarde speech at 15:30CET at French Competition Authority's 15th Anniversary Event in Paris. ECB's Schnabel speech at 19:30CET at Harvard Univ. European macro data releases out today include: France Sep industrial production, Spain Oct unemployment rate, Switzerland Oct unemployment rate, Sweden Oct services PMI, UK Oct final services PMI, retail sales monitor - BRC
A busy morning for earnings saw DACHs region names kicking off off the session with Zalando (ZAL.GR), Fraport (FRA.GR), Adecco Group (ADEN.SW), Fresenius Medical Care (FME.GR), Uniper (UN0.GR) and Hugo Boss (BOSS.GR) reporting Q3 earnings. In France, Exclusive Networks (EXN.FP) and Vicat (VCT.FP) released their Q3 revenue number and guidance for 2024, whilst Bouygues (EN.FP) reported Q3 earnings ahead of expectations and confirmed FY24 outlook.
In Nordics, SATS ASA (SATS.NO), Ambu (AMBU.B.DC), Coloplast (COLO.B.SS), Vestas Wind Systems (VWS.DC) and ISS A/S (ISS.DC) updated investors with their lates numbers. In Benelux, Syensqo (SYENS.BB) reported Q3 earnings and UCB (UCB.BB) announced the sale of two established brands and raised FY guidance.
In M&A, EQT X (EQT.SS), through Oak BidCo S.à r.l, has announced a public offer to the shareholders of OEM International (OEM.B.SS) to tender all their shares in the company to EQT at a price of SEK 110 in cash per share in deal valued at ~SEK 15.25B. Elsewhere, the shareholder of Salzgitter (SZG.GR) GP Günter Papenburg Aktiengesellschaft has notified the company that it considers, together with TSR Recycling GmbH & Co. KG, to submit a voluntary public takeover bid. Carrefour (CA.FP) is looking at ways to increase valuation, reports Bloomberg.
