Synopsis
European equity markets are set for a mixed open as indices come back online for the first trading session of 2025. Switzerland remains closed until Friday. Asia equities mostly lower Thursday. Losses greatest in Greater China as Hong Kong and Shanghai markets slump. Taiwan also lower, small losses in South Korea. On the upside, Australia's ASX slightly higher, India also a few points up. Southeast Asia mixed with notable losses in Thailand. US futures looking brighter

On the macro front, Dec manufacturing PMIs due to be released for Italy, Norway, Spain and Sweden with final reads for Eurozone, France, Germany and UK as well as Eurozone Nov M3 money supply
A light corporate front sees Swisscom (SCMN.SW) completing its acquisition of Vodafone Italia (VOD.LN) and saying costs of up to €200M will be recognised in the Swisscom financial statements 2024 and therefore 2024 EBITDA is expected to amount to CHF4.3-4.4B vs prior guidance CHF4.5-4.6B and FactSet CHF4.34B. Revenue, CAPEX and the dividend guidance is unchanged. In France, Sword Group (SWP.FP) presented its business plan 2028 and appointed Philippe Blanche as Group CFO whilst in the Nordics, Selvaag Bolig (SBO.NO) reported Q4 sold 160 homes worth NOK1.12B vs year-ago 99 homes worth NOK602M
