  • Synopsis

    • European equity markets are set to open mixed to higher whilst Asian equities mostly lower in subdued Tuesday trade. Declines picking up in Korea and Taiwan with China and Japan also seeing losses. S&P 500 and FTSE futures remain higher with US and UK markets resuming trade Tuesday.

    • Markets navigating last trade twist with EU promising to fast-track negotiations after Trump extending EU tariff deadline to 9-Jul. Still, there remains uncertainty around prospect of deals being struck before 9-Jul deadline, leaving open threat of tariffs reverting to higher levels for countries unable to reach agreements. Near-term focus is also on US-Japan negotiations with more talks expected later this week after Japan officials sounded optimistic following third round of talks last Friday.

    • On today's agenda, France's President Macron is scheduled to visit Indonesia (through Thu) and Norway's minister of defence Sandvik speech at Industrial Forum for the 2024 Fleet Plan. Chancellor Merz will meet with Finnish PM Orpo for further bilateral talks, joint press conf is planned afterward, and meet with Finland's President Stubb. Other events include Global conf on Climate and SDG Synergies (through Wed), Bruegel event at 13:00CET title Unfinished business: Trade barriers within the EU, speaker IMF's Rotunno and The European House - Ambrosetti hosts Leadership Global Summit. EU Space Days (through Wed). EU's Kubilius and Tzitzikostas participate/speak in B9 and Nordic Countries Transport Ministerial Meeting. Also, In Italy there's Confindustria National Assembly, includes address from EP's Metsola. In Germany, network operator TransnetBW presents study on supply security and climate neutrality. European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) Apr new passenger car registrations for EU + EFTA + UK.

    • In central banks, Riksbank's Jansson discusses current monetary policy and the economic situation at 8:30CET at The Stockholm Chamber of Commerce. Bank of France's Villeroy speech at 9:00CET with release of annual report of French banking supervisor, ACPR. Bundesbank's Lienenkämper panellist at 14:15CET at re:publica 25 and Bundesbank's Nagel speaks at 18:00 at event organised by ZEW. Sweden's Financial Stability Council (rep of the Riksbank, Swedish FSA, the Swedish National Debt Office and the Government) meeting 9:30CET. Bundesbank's Köhler-Geib panellist at 11:15CET at re:publica 25. Hungary central bank is expected to keep its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 6.5% when it announces its decision at 14:00CET. Bank of Spain releases latest Financial Stability Report.

    • Macroeconomic data due today include, Sweden, Spain and Finland Apr PPI.

    • In corporate news, NN Group Capital (NN.NA) released presentation material in connection with its CMD guiding new ambitious financial targets for 2028. In Southern Europe, Mota-Engil SGPS (EGL.PL) and Hellenic Exchanges-Athens Stock Exchange (EXAE.GA) reported Q1 earnings. In DAHCs, Vienna Insurance Group (VIG.AV) and LEM Holding (LEHN.SW) updated investors with their latest numbers with the latter announcing no dividend for the year, whilst ADLER Group (ADLER.GR) released its Q1 earnings report and confirmed its guidance for 2025. In Nordics, Grieg Seafood (GSF.NO) and Constellation Oil Services Holding (COSH.NO) reported Q1 earnings.
