Synopsis
European indices are set to open mixed in line with Asian equities also mixed. Greater China outperforming though semis pulling back. Small decline in Japan while Australia and Korea little changed. Taiwan recording moderate gain.
S&P 500 futures flat
US equities were higher in Thursday trading as stocks ended near best levels. S&P 500 posted another fresh record close, above 6,500 level for first time. Big tech mostly higher, though NVDA lower after results.
Bloomberg reported market strategists from Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and JP Morgan Asset Management said contagion risk from French political situation is low. Highlighted that risk of another failed government in France already priced in and won't be enough to derail best year for European markets relative to US stocks in almost two decades.
Friday sees, in central banks, ECB's latest consumer expectations survey released at 10:00CET and ECB's Guindos speech at 11:00CET at event hosted by European Summer Course VII / FDN (Wed-Fri). Franco-German Council of Ministers (bilateral meeting between the German and French governments) will take place in Toulon.
