Synopsis
European equity markets are set for a positive open, whilst Asia equities trading mixed Tuesday. Strength led by South Korea, Japan and Australia. Hong Kong and mainland China lower. US futures tracking sideways after sharp gains in the cash session. Growth/tech mostly outperforming across the region except for Hong Kong.
Overnight market strength was attributed to general follow-through momentum after the Fed offered reassurances that a rate hike is unlikely and subsequent Fedspeak remaining consistent with this message. Rate repricing sees almost two rate cuts back on the cards this year. Earnings growth also tracking well above expectations. However, Middle East uncertainties returned to the fore as Hamas agreed to a Gaza ceasefire proposal but Israel said terms did not meet demands, continuing with strikes in Rafah while negotiations continue.
