    • European equity markets are set to open in positive territory amidst mixed Asian equities on Wednesday. Greater China markets little changed while Japan and Australia seeing mild declines. S&P 500 futures higher afterhours.

    • Debate is heating up within Germany's SPD as to whether Scholz is still the right candidate for chancellor. SPD senior figures held a telephone conf on Tuesday, but no results have been made public. Pressure is piling on Scholz to let someone else lead his Social Democrats into the Feb-25 snap election. There are growing calls in the SPD for Scholz to step aside in favour of his more popular defence minister, Boris Pistorius (Welt , Reuters , Süddeutsche Zeitung).

    • In the UK, weekly PMQs at 12noon GMT, whilst Sec. of State at Scotland Office before committee at 9:30, with other committee topics include Work of the Dept for Energy Security and Net Zero at 15:00 (speakers include Chair at Great British Energy). Norway's defence minister Gram attends meetings in the Northern Group - UK-led format involves 12 countries - 3 Baltic countries, 5 Nordic countries, Poland, the Netherlands and Germany, and the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8), both in Copenhagen. Also, OMFIF / Frankfurt School of Finance and Management event on macroeconomics and capital markets.

    • On the central bank front, ECB publishes at 10:00CET its latest Financial Stability Review and ECB's Lagarde speech at 14:00CET at ECB conf on financial stability and macroprudential policy 2024, with ECB's de Guindos speech ay 19:00CET. BOE's Ramsden speech at 16:00GMT on monetary policy at the Univ. of Leeds whilst Bank of Greece's Stournaras speech at 18:30GMT at event organised by Birkbeck, Univ of London. Ireland central bank's Makhlouf speech at 19:00GMT at Financial Services Ireland Annual Dinner and Latvia central bank's Kazāks participates in a discussion on LTV. BaFin annual conference of insurance supervision.

    • Macro data due include UK Oct CPI/RPI/PPI input/output, Germany Oct PPI, Denmark Q3 preliminary GDP and Eurozone Sep construction output.

    • In earnings, SGS (SGSN.SW) is hosting its CMD where it said it focuses on Strategy 27 and confirms financial objectives and willa acquire MP Machinery. dormakaba Holding (DOKA.SW) also reiterated its mid-term targets ahead of its CMD. In France, STMicroelectronics (STMPA.FP) reiterated its $20B+ revenue ambition by 2030 in connection with its CMD and introduces 2027-2028 intermediate model whilst VINCI (DG.FP) reported Oct airport passenger traffic, +6.2%. Renalytix (RENX.LN) reported Q1 GAAP EPS ($0.04) vs year-ago ($0.11).

    • On the M&A front, Symrise (SY1.GR) made an offer to acquire Probi for SEK350/share in cash whilst Bloomberg reported Rubis (RUI.FP) is exploring a potential sale. Grifols (GRF.SM) said its board would not recommend shareholders accept potential offer by Brookfield (BAM) at indicated price.
