    • European equity markets set to open mixed Friday. US equities finished mostly lower in Thursday trading, ending somewhat off worst levels. S&P and Nasdaq now down five straight sessions. Big tech was mixed but saw some notable drag from TSLA (weak Q4 deliveries) and AAPL (China iPhone discounts). Asia equities mixed Friday. South Korea's Kospi sharply higher after acting President Choi vowed market stabilization measures. In China, Bloomberg cited an NDRC briefing announcing an expansion to the consumer product trade-in program to include smartphones and other electronics such as tablets and smartwatches. The move is part of efforts to encourage consumption to offset the effects of any new US tariffs on Chinese exports.
