    • The majority of European markets are closed for the Labor Day/May Day holiday, with only FTSE 100 and Denmark open. Asia equities trading higher Thursday with most of the region offline for public holidays. Japan moderately higher while Australia swung to marginal gains. Hong Kong, mainland China, South Korea and India closed for Labour Day. Regional support coming from sharp gains in US futures after mixed performance in the cash session that rallied into the close on some likely month-end support.

    • In political developments, UK PM Starmer sees first major test at the ballot box with a parliamentary by-election in what has recently been a safe Labour seat of Runcorn and Helsby, the same day as local elections in England. MPs rise for Mayday Recess, returning on 6-May.

    • Macroeconomic updates in Europe today include: Switzerland Apr manufacturing PMI, UK Mar mortgage approvals, M4 money supply, Apr house price index - Nationwide. Yesterday, most notable macro catalyst was the Q1 GDP print, which fell into contraction territory for the first time since 2022.

    • Looking ahead to tomorrow, the ECB is expected to publish its latest Economic Bulletin at 10:00CET.

    • In corporate news, Airbus SE (AIR.FP) reported Q1 earnings yesterday after the close including Q1 EBIT €624M ex-items vs consensus €602.0M and reaffirmed its 2025 guidance. Still in France, DBV Technologies (DBV.FP) also issued a Q1 update. Out of the Nordics, GN Store Nord (GN.DC) released Q1 numbers and announced actions capable of mitigating the majority of the assumed tariff impact on the EBITA margin in 2025 as well as updated its guidance. This morning, Alm. Brand (ALMB.DC) and Netcompany Group (NETC.DC) reported Q1 earnings.
