Synopsis
European equity markets set to open broadly flat/mixed with Europe's benchmark Stoxx 600 remaining near record highs. Quiet start to the week with limited macro updates to focus on and lack of incremental news. No change in market narrative. Better AI sentiment and positive seasonality has been supportive into holiday period.
Asia equities mixed again Tuesday but are trading within a narrow band. Key Asian benchmarks capping off year of global outperformance, led by Korea, where 76% ytd gain driven principally by SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics.
European macro data releases out today include Spain Dec preliminary CPI, Nov retail sales, Switzerland Dec leading indicators - KOF, Austria Nov PPI, Greece Nov PPI, Portugal Nov retail sales
Note that tomorrow, several markets will be fully closed (Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland), while there will be early closes for Belgium, France, Ireland, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, UK.
