Crude pulling back from earlier highs while gold flat. Bitcoin continues to fluctuate.

    • Alibaba (~9988.HK~) reports quarterly earnings later Friday. Shares sold off Thursday alongside food delivery peers in wake of Meituan's (~3690.HK~) warning of sizable losses due to effects of intense price competition. Alibaba's results expected to show similar trends to Meituan and JD.com (~9618.HK~) while market will be eyeing company's investment strategy as an indicator of future competition intensity. Another focus will be on extent of AI monetization though forecasts are for tepid AI-driven revenue growth.

Cambricon Technologies (~688256.CH~) issued letter to shareholders Thursday warning of significant trading risk with stock rally deviating from fundamentals. Asia earnings continue to roll through with China's major banks reporting.
