  • Synopsis

    • European equity markets are set to open in positive territory amid Asian equities mixed Thursday. Hang Seng weighed down service delivery providers following Meituan's earnings. Mild gains in Japan and Korea while Taiwan and Australia little changed. Nasdaq futures weighed down by NVDA following earnings. Treasuries flat while JGB curve bull flattening. Dollar touch softer against yen, weakest against Korean won following BOK hold. Crude pulling back from earlier highs while gold flat. Bitcoin hovering near early July lows.

    • In political developments focus is on France, where French Prime Minister François Bayrou warned on Wednesday that his government's likely collapse next month would drag France into a dangerous abyss (Politico). France's parliament will convene for an extraordinary session in less than two weeks, with MPs set to vote on the viability of Prime Minister François Bayrou's government and his package of austerity measures aiming to cut France's spiralling deficit. The suggested budget cuts have already proved unpopular among politicians on the left and right, and with the general public (France24 ).

    • In central banks, Bank of Finland's Rehn will deliver at 10:00CET the 2025 Esko Antola Lecture (followed by discussion) at Europe Forum, theme 'A Strong Europe in a World of Confrontation'. ECB minutes of last MPC meeting released at 13:30CET. Poland central bank releases minutes of last MPC meeting. In politics, EU defence ministers will gather in Copenhagen (through Fri). Pre-event to discuss a defence industry cooperation with Ukraine, and Nordic defence cooperation.

    • Macroeconomic data includes: Italy Aug business/consumer confidence, Switzerland Q2 final GDP, Eurozone Aug economic/service sentiment, Jul M3 money supply, Sweden Jul trade balance, Belgium Aug CPI, Ireland Jul Retail sales. Also, European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) July new passenger car registrations for EU + EFTA + UK.

    • In corporate news, Delivery Hero (DHER.GR) posted H1 earnings this morning. The company also updated its FY25 guidance yesterday after the close to reflect foreign exchange rate headwinds, now expecting lower adjusted EBITDA and FCF. Still in the DACH region, Fielmann Group (FIE.GR) released final H1 numbers. SoftwareONE Holding (SWON.SW) reported H1 earnings in line with preliminary. STRABAG (STR.AV) is also out with H1 earnings and confirmed FY guidance. In France, Eiffage (FGR.FP) reported yesterday after the close H1 net income €308M vs FactSet €304.7M and confirmed outlook. Also today before the open, Pernod Ricard (RI.FP) released FY earnings. Out of the Nordics, Elekta (EKTA.B.SS) and Elon AB (ELON.SS) updated the market with their most recent earnings. Per Aarsleff Holding (PAAL.B.DC) posted Q3 earnings and narrowed its FY guidance.
