  • Synopsis:

    • European indices have ended mixed. In macro-related news, Eurozone inflation looks set to decline further in Oct (out this Friday), with headline expected 2.1% y/y versus 2.2% in Sep, driven by collapsing energy prices and food base effects. Core inflation expected at 2.3% y/y from 2.4% prior, but the story splits dramatically. Core goods seen declining from 0.8% to 0.6% as Sep's clothing spike reverses. Services, however, may remain stubbornly elevated at 3.2% with labour-intensive services stuck at 3.7%. Energy deflation may accelerate from -0.4% to -0.9% y/y as last Oct's surge creates negative comps. Food seen moderating to 2.7% despite monthly strength, again benefiting from tough 2024 comps. Bank of America sees potential for an even better print-2.0% headline, 2.2% core-if services cooperate. However, Crédit Agricole warns services could stay sticky through year-end before easing toward 3.0% in H1 2026. Forecasts remain well within ECB projections. Hence, data unlikely to impact ECB policy. Also, sticky services inflation and temporary disinflationary drivers - energy and clothing - suggest ongoing caution

    • Spanish growth moderated in Q3 with the output slowing to 0.6% q/q versus prior 0.8%, in line consensus. On a y/y basis, economy expanded 2.8% versus consensus 3.0% and prior 3.1%. Note that Spain is the Eurozone's best performing economy. INE said boost in household and government spending more than offset a drop in trade. Spanish economy has benefited from a booming tourist sector and low energy, while immigration has boosted the labor market and it was also one of the main beneficiaries of EU recovery funds
