StreetAccount Summary - Asian Market Preview: Nikkei Futures +0.28%, Hang Seng Futures (0.25%), ASX SPI 200 (0.16%), S&P Futures (0.25%)

Nov 12 ,2025

  • Synopsis:

    • Asian markets set for mixed start to Thursday trade. Futures signaling small opening gain in Japan and mildly negative start in Hong Kong. ASX flat in initial trade. S&P 500 futures retreating afterhours. Australian bonds firming in-line with Treasury strength. FX markets steady after dollar hit 9-month high against yen. Crude down to three-week low. Gold extended gains to three-week high. Bitcoin backing down towards one-week low.

    • AI sentiment remains volatile though helped on Wednesday by positive AMD takeaways after group forecast acceleration in profit and data center revenue. CSCO +8% in postmarket trade after upgrading FY revenue guidance, citing AI-related demand for its networking products. Foxconn (2317.TT) beat on bottom line and gave bullish outlook for AI server assembly demand. There was also more deal activity with Anthropic announcing $50B investment in new US data centers to meet AI demand.

    • On economic front, Australia employment data forecast to show uplift in headlines jobs growth and downtick in unemployment rate, which would reinforce RBA's assessment of some labor market tightness. Markets have largely priced out any rate cut until closer to mid-2026 following hawkish-leaning takeaways from RBA's hold decision this month. Late Wednesday, India CPI inflation fell to record low last month, reflecting base year effects from volatile food prices and recent consumption tax overhaul. Data strengthened expectations of an RBI cut in December.

    • US House of Representatives set to vote on funding bill to reopen government later Wednesday. However, unlikely to resolve data vacuum, which remains an issue from Fed policy perspective with White House saying October CPI, jobs data likely won't be released due to shutdown. While resumption of Fed easing has been a component of the bullish narrative, Fed policymakers still divided on policy path. Market pricing in 60% chance of December rate cut, down from 67% day before.
