Synopsis:
European equity markets closed bit softer after moving off the worst levels. Stoxx Europe 600 on track for largest weekly decline since August. Food/Beverage, Media and Personal Care Drug and Grocery Stores lead; Technology, Energy, Basic Resources and Industrial Goods/Services lag. Was the first drop in retail sales since May. Public finance data was worse than forecast ahead of budget. French business confidence improved slightly in November, but manufacturing sentiment downbeat.
