  • Synopsis:

    • European equity markets ended firmly higher Tuesday. Follows positive performance on Monday. Constructions, retail and banks the best performers. Tech and energy the biggest laggards.

    • Markets supported by reports Ukraine has accepted revised US peace deal. However, neither Ukraine nor Russia officially confirmed delegations participated in recent talks. Risk appetite also improving on December Fed rate-cut bets, though momentum limited. Meanwhile, according to reports, Chancellor Reeves has asked banks to make public endorsements of the budget, as she prepares to spare the sector from a tax raid. Set to cut annual tax free savings limit to £12k.

    • On macro data front, German Q3 GDP unchanged from preliminary estimate at 0% q/q. France Nov Consumer Confidence below at 89 vs consensus 91 and prior 90. CBI distributive trade reading deteriorates in November to (32) vs consensus (30) and prior (27). Industry data showed European car sales increased for the fourth month in October.

    • In corporate news flow, out of DACHs, Straumann Group (STMN.SW) presented its next strategic phase towards 2030 and now sees FY30 revenue growth at around 10% CAGR. thyssenkrupp nucera (NCH2.GR) also reported. Out of the UK, Kingfisher (KGF.LN), EasyJet (EZJ.LN) and Compass Group (CPG.LN) were among other names from the region to update investors. Elsewhere, ABN AMRO Bank (ABN.NA) published update ahead of CMD today and presented new strategy and financial outlook for 2026-2028; group also agrees to sell Alfam to Rabobank for an undisclosed sum. Fortum (FORTUM.FH) is hosting a CMD this morning.

    • In M&A headlines, Zegona Communications plc (ZEG.LN) announced that AXA IM Alts, has signed a binding contract with Vodafone ONO, S.A.U. and Telefónica España Filiales S.A.U. (TEF.SM) to acquire a 40% stake in FiberPass. According to Corriere della Sera, CdP is looking to purchase of Mercury's 3.2% stake in Nexi (NEXI.IM).

    • Looking ahead to tomorrow's EU econ-calendar, notable releases will include, amongst others, Switzerland Nov economic sentiment index.
