    • Markets continue their positive start to the holiday period with tech sector sentiment helped by latest AI developments (NVDA H200 sales to China, OpenAI funding headlines, MU earnings and bullish outlook for memory). Markets enter very favorable seasonal stretch (Santa rally), aided by healthy positioning and sentiment indicators. Futures also continue to price in at least two Fed rate cuts next year with inflation in check and resilient US economy supporting 'Goldilocks' narrative.

    • Yen stabilized Monday afterfalling to one-month low against dollarin wake of Friday's BOJ rate hike, where takeaways highlighted lack of clearer guidance on rate outlook and the neutral rate. In Bloomberg interview Monday, Finance Minister Katayama said authorities have "free hand" to take bold action against FX moves not in line fundamentals, representing her strongest warning yet to speculators. Some FX strategists believe USDJPY move towards 160 may be trigger for action after MOF last intervened around this level in 2024.

    • Quiet day on economic calendar. December RBA meeting minutes may shed further light on hawkish tone of this month's hold decision.
