    • European equity market futures point to a lower open. Asia equities trading mixed on Christmas Eve with most indices now closed ahead of a holiday tomorrow. US futures slightly lower. US dollar flat after recovering from early losses, yen strengthening further, won stronger on BOK/government intervention warning. Treasuries and JGBs quiet. Crude oil higher, gold, silver, platinum and palladium all surging again to record highs. Base metals mixed. Cryptocurrencies under some pressure.

    • There are no earnings releases scheduled for today; in macro, Netherlands reported final Q3 GDP at +1.8% y/y vs preliminary +1.6%. In global macro developments, October BOJ meeting minutes indicated many members saw US tariff impacts smaller than initially expected though needed little more time for further confirmation of economic and price outlook being realized. In other developments, US said China's targeting of semiconductor industry is unreasonable and burdens US commerce, though delayed additional tariffs on imports of legacy China chips until at least mid-2027. US and Japan agreed to accelerate preparations for first project under $550B investment commitment.
