    • European indices are set to open lower with Asian equities mostly lower Friday. Risk-off session though markets stabilizing with Japan swinging to positive territory while South Korea and Taiwan well off worst levels.

    • UK PM Starmer's leadership facing renewed speculation over his appointment of Lord Peter Mandelson as US ambassador, who has been implicated in Jeffrey Epstein scandal

    • US equities finished down in Thursday trading, ending not far from worst levels; equal-weight RSP held up better, dropping only 0.9%. Big tech was mostly lower with MSFT and AMZN worst performers, GOOGL came well off session lows. Software was sharply lower again, trailing semis by more than 400 bp amid continued AI pressure.

    • Friday sees, in central banks, Austria central bank's Kocher speech at 10:00CET at Club of Business Journalists. Czech central bank publish minutes of last MPC and holds meeting with analysts at ~11:00CET to discuss the latest economic forecast. ECB publishes its latest survey of professional forecasters at 10:00CET. ECB's Cipollone speech at 7:45CET on the digital euro at event organised by MEP Hadjipantela in Cyprus.
