    • European equity markets finished mixed. Oil names and insurance the worst performing sectors, while chemicals, auto/parts and media outperform. US equity markets mixed in midday trading. Treasuries firmer with curve flattening; yields down 4-6 bp. Gilts 5 bps lower at 4.48%. Bund down 4 bps at 2.81%. JGBs performing well after coming under pressure in prior session. Dollar sharply lower versus Japanese yen, firmer elsewhere. Gold, silver down. Bitcoin futures down 3.9%. WTI crude down 0.2%.

    • In Europe, supportive corporate news and upbeat macro-outlook providing traction after yesterday's jump in Eurozone investor confidence. Quiet macro calendar in Europe on Tuesday. UK BRC update see boost in January retail sales by 2.7% y/y versus 2.6% a year ago, above 12-month average of 2.3%.. UK politics continues to fuel fluctuations in UK assets. PM Starmer secured the support of cabinet ministers after resignation of key aides resigned in recent days, which may offer a temporary reprieve from speculation of potential leadership challenge. French President Macron used series of press interviews to call for more assertive European economic policy amid recent Trump attacks; ahead of a two-day EU summit, Macron emphasized time for launch of joint borrowing capacity with Eurobonds and highlighted joint borrowing would fund strategic investments and tackle hegemony of the dollar.

    • In European corporate news highlights, in finance sector, Barclays (BARC.LN) reported better-than-expected FY numbers and added group was on track to deliver 2026 targets and announced new targets to 2028. Further in the UK, shares of Standard Chartered (STAN.LN) traded lower after CFO Diego De Giorgi announced he was stepping down to pursue external opportunity, effective immediately. Mediobanca (MB.IM) Q2 net income beat expectations; while UniCredit (UCG.IM) completed second tranche worth ~€1.77B and share were also upgraded to overweight from equal-weight at Morgan Stanley overnight. Midday, Commerzbank (CBK.GR) reported prelim. FY number and announced dividend proposal and share buyback.

    • In health, AstraZeneca (AZN.LN) reported Q4 EPS as expected and guided for core EPS to increase by low doubt-digit percentage for 2026. Koninklijke Philips (PHIA.NA ) shares are over +8% higher post strong Q4 and upbeat guidance.

    • In other notable releases, BP (BP.LN) shares lower following Q4 results, trimmed capex guidance and suspended share buyback. Kering (KER.FP) shares over +11% higher at this time post better-than-expected Q4 sales, though recurring operating income and net income below expectations. Salzgitter (SZG.GR) reports prelim. FY numbers and provided FY26 guidance.

    • Light in M&A headlines, overnight media reported Anglo American (AAL.LN) considers sale of De Beers to public-private consortium to be the likely outcome of sale process. Sanofi (SAN.FP) completes acquisition of Dynavax (DVAX) and Prysmian (PRY.IM) closes acquisition of ACSM.
