    • Asia indexes set for negative start to Monday trade as markets react to conflict in Middle east. Futures signaling opening declines in Japan and Hong Kong. Australia lower in initial trade. S&P 500 futures down 1%. Haven demand supporting bonds with Australian yield curve steepening. Dollar higher against majors. Big crude rally amid Strait of Hormuz disruption fears. Gold and silver seeing relatively milder gains. Bitcoin little changed.

    • US and Israel launched air strikes against Iran that targeted military assets, government and IRGC facilities and missile bases, killing Supreme Leader Khamanei and several high-level officials. Trump optimistic about progress, mentioning offramps and claiming Iran's new leaders in talks. Also said campaign to stretch over a few weeks. Concerns about regional spillover heightened after Iran struck Gulf states, resulting in shutdown of major airports. Shipping through Strait of Hormuz disrupted with OPEC+ agreeing to modest increase in daily crude barrels.

    • China PMIs (Wed) headline this week's economic releases with manufacturing and non-manufacturing declines forecast to have steepened. China NPC begins Thursday with government expected to set lower GDP growth target for 2026. Australia Q4 GDP (Wed) forecast to show growth picked up further while South Korea inflation (Fri) seen rebounding. Japan capex (Tues) to feed into final Q4 GDP after preliminary figures showed only marginal growth in private investment. RBA Governor Bullock (Tues) and BOJ Governor Ueda (Thurs) slated to remark. Japan to auction 10Y (Tues) and 30Y (Thurs) bonds.
