However, cash indications softer with Japan ADRs broadly lower while Golden Dragon China index fell 1.32%. US contracts slightly softer following moderate overnight gains. Encouragement from seventh straight advance in S&P 500. Sectors broadly firmer with consumer discretionary notably outperforming. Tech leads positive with SOX index up a sharp 2.10%, adding to the surge in prior session back to record highs. US big tech also mostly higher; strength concentrated in Mag 7, broader names mixed. • Concerns about the viability of the US-Iran ceasefire eased overnight after Israel sought direct talks with Lebanon while Saturday's Islamabad talks still appear on course. President Trump confirmed he asked Israeli PM Netanyahu Wednesday to pull back on Lebanon strikes. However, while Netanyahu authorized direct talks with Lebanon, stressed there is no ceasefire in place and will continue to strike Hezbollah until security is restored in northern Israel. Meanwhile, President Trump said he was "very optimistic" about a peace deal with Iran, though Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed. Trump warned on social media that Iran had better stop charging tolls on tankers passing through the Strait if reports are true. Later criticized Iran's management of oil flows through the Strait as a violation of the agreement. Caution towards Strait passage remains as Asia petrochemicals prices logged notably milder declines Wednesday than the double-digit drop in base crude oil, as an indication of slower reactions downstream to oil developments.

    • Immediate macro focus on impacts from fuel price surge and supply chain disruptions, while largely filtering out data points that do not capture developments since the start of the Iran war. Cumulative ramifications for inflation and inflation expectations the key consideration for central banks over time, to be weighed against risks to growth momentum. Today's March inflation readings set to attract notable attention. Asia calendar includes Japan CGPI and China CPI/PPI; factory gate pressures seen picking up on the year. Later, US CPI set to be the main global event with expectations skewed to the high side, particularly at the headline. Elsewhere, BOK widely seen remaining on hold as an extension of a broader wait-and-see stance adopted broadly among central banks as they monitor Middle East impacts.
