    • Asian markets set for cautious start to Monday trade. Japan, Hong Kong and Australian futures ended higher Friday, though S&P 500 futures have swung lower in pre-market trade amid Middle East headline volatility. Comes after US indexes capped off strong week with another rally on Friday. Big bounce in crude this morning after losing 14% last week. Gold and silver retreating. Australian bonds firming with yields lower across the curve, mirroring Treasury markets on Friday. Dollar inching higher against yen, weaker against Aussie and Kiwi. Bitcoin under pressure.

    • Latest Iran headlines raising uncertainty about prospects of second of round of talks. Trump sending US delegation to Pakistan this week and press sources say VP Vance will lead negotiations. No confirmation from Iran after CNN sources said Tehran would be participating. Tensions ratcheted higher over Strait of Hormuz after Iran re-closed the waterway and fired on vessels, accusing US of violating ceasefire by maintaining its blockade. Trump warned war will resume if Iran doesn't sign deal, renewing threat to take out power plants and bridges. US also seized Iran-linked oil tanker attempting to escape blockade.

    • China loan prime rate decision Monday with 1Y and 5Y rates expected to remain unchanged for 11 straight month. Quieter week on Asia economic calendar with Japan CPI forecast to show core inflation holding below 2% due to energy subsidies. New Zealand Q1 CPI expected to show pickup in headline inflation as policy tightening expectations firm. Flash PMIs to be scrutinized for war's impact on input costs. Japan trade data, South Korea Q1 GDP and Singapore CPI among other data points of note. Indonesian and Philippines central bank decisions expected.
