  • Synopsis:

    • Asian markets set for positive start to Friday trade. Futures signaling opening gains in Japan, Hong Kong and Australia. S&P 500 futures unchanged afterhours. Australian bonds strengthening, in-line with latest pullback in Treasury yields. Crude extending losses in post-settlement trade amid reports of US-Iran MoU agreement. Gold and silver little changed after ending up 1% Thursday. FX markets steady with dollar little changed against majors, weaker against Korean won. Bitcoin extended pullback to mid-April low.

    • US and Iran reportedly reached agreement on MoU that will extend ceasefire by 60 days for negotiations on contentious issues like nuclear program. Iran to clear mines within 30-days to allow free and unfettered transit through Strait of Hormuz with US lifting blockade in turn. No confirmation yet from Iran and President Trump yet to sign off. VP Vance signaled two sides still in talks about uranium stockpiles and extent of sanctions relief and it is unclear whether Trump will agree. MoU also at odds with Iranian demands to manage Strait of Hormuz with fee collection.
