Asian markets set for mixed start to Wednesday trade. Futures signaling opening gains in Japan and Australia, and mild initial decline in Hong Kong. S&P 500 futures down slightly afterhours. Australian bonds weakening ahead of GDP. Treasuries were mixed overnight with some curve flattening. Crude strengthening further in post-settlement trade. Gold and silver retreating. FX markets steady with yen back down to 160 against dollar. Bitcoin down heavily, near lowest since late March.
Australian Q1 GDP growth forecast to have slowed with net exports to exert bigger drag amid surge in value of fuel imports due to Iran war. Investment shapes as the main positive contributor amid massive growth in data center capex. Household consumption the main variable after volume growth slowed over the quarter. China RatingDog services PMI forecast to show growth held at similar pace to April. Comes after China official PMI showed services sub-index climbed to highest level since Aug-25.
Computex continues following another eventful day where positive comments from NVDA CEO Jensen Huang sparked huge rally in MRVL, South Korean robotics stocks extended momentum on physical AI hype, Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) unveiled HBM5 mock-up, SK Hynix (000660.KS) announced plans to double memory capacity over coming years with shortage seen lasting until 2030, and SoftBank (9984.JP) controlled ARM voiced confidence in achieving $15B sales target earlier than expected.
