European equity markets are set for a softer open amidst mixed Asian equities in quiet Wednesday trade. Taiwan underperforming with semis taking cues from overnight weakness in US. South Korea unchanged with memory majors mixed. Japan outperforming while Greater China little changed. S&P 500 futures nudging higher afterhours
In central banks, Riksbank interest rate decision at 9:30CET, press conf at 11:00. Benchmark interest rate expected to be left unchanged at 1.75%. ECB's Cipollone in fireside chat at 9:00CET and panellist at 9:30 at Salzburg Global Finance Forum. Bundesbank's Balz press conf at 10:00CET title: "Payment behavior in Germany 2025" ahead of related press release at 12noon. BOE's Mills panellist at 9:30BST at the Futures industry Assn international derivatives expo. Netherland central bank's Sleijpens speech at European Economics & Financial Center.
SECO releases latest economic forecast. IEA oil market report, due to ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the Supply/demand forecasts will be extended to 2027 and the publication of the Market Report - Oil 2026 - Analysis and forecast to 2031 - has been postponed to a later date.
Following UK MPs questions on Wales, weekly PMQs gets underway at 12noon BST, whilst committee topics include managing the future of UK oil and gas and work of the Sec. of State for Transport both at 9:15, social and economic impact of the gambling industry at 10:00, regulation of the consumer insurance market at 11:00, HM Treasury and the economics of climate and nature at 14:30.
