    • European equity markets are set to open broadly flat to lower, following last week's gains. STOXX Europe 600 rose +2.66% last week, hitting fresh record highs. Oil prices and bond yields extended the recent decline following the easing of Middle East tensions, which was reinforced by lower-than-expected Eurozone inflation and reduced the urgency for further rate increases.

    • Asian equities mixed Monday. Tech-led retreat in South Korea and Japan with Taiwan erasing early gains. S&P 500 futures slightly higher as US markets resume trade Monday following Independence Day long weekend. Crude fluctuating with Middle East supply on the rise. Gold and silver remain higher. Bitcoin back to two-week high.

    • European macro data releases out today include Germany May factory orders, Jun construction PMI, Switzerland Jun unemployment rate, Eurozone Jul economic index - Sentix, May PPI, retail sales, UK Jun construction PMI, Denmark May industrial production, Ireland Jun unemployment rate

    • In central banks, Bank of Italy hosts conf (through Tue) on challenges for monetary policy transmission in a changing world (ChaMP), ECB's Schnabel chairs panel including Riksbank's Seim at 17:00CET and ECB's Lane speech at 20:30CET, whilst ECB's Lagarde in on-stage conversation at 18:00CET at 15th anniversary event of Financi'Elles. Croatia central bank's Žigman introductory speech/panellist at 10:00CET at annual meeting of Croatian regulators, BOE's Mann panellist at 17:30BST at Royal Economic Society (RES) conf (through Wed) and Latvia central bank's Rutkaste participates at 12:05CET in the Latvian Radio program 'Krustpunktā'.     • In M&A, Novartis [NOVN.SW] agreed to acquire Myricx Bio for $1.1B upfront plus $400M in milestones, while Continental [CON.GR] announced the sale of its ContiTech division to Lone Star Funds for €4.0B, planning to return €2.5B to shareholders. EasyJet [EZJ.LN] reached an agreement in principle with Castlelake for a recommended cash offer at £6.90 per share. Thales [HO.FP] will acquire a 35.51% stake in Exail Technologies [EXA.FP] with a view to a full takeover at €134/share (implying a €3.9B enterprise value), while also flagging a ~€450M exceptional charge in H1 2026 related to the termination of the F126 programme.
