    • Asian markets set for mixed start to Monday trade. Futures signaling steep opening decline in South Korea, mild initial decline in Japan, muted start in Hong Kong and opening gains in Australia. S&P 500 futures strengthening after US indexes capped off another weekly decline. Australian bond firming. Crude under pressure amid revival of Middle East diplomatic efforts. Gold and silver higher. FX markets steady after dollar index neared one-month high. Bitcoin rebounding.

    • Crude pulling back after US and Iran halted strikes over weekend. Iran and Oman held talks over Strait of Hormuz, with Iran saying some progress was made and consultations to continue. Press reports noted Trump held off on escalating military action in bid to give diplomacy a chance though decision also borne of necessity amid dwindling supply of munitions and interceptors. Regional tensions remain elevated with Riyadh retaliating after Houthis fired at Saudi oil facilities and imposed blockade on Saudi crude shipments through Red Sea.

    • Central banks headline macro week. Fed, BOJ, BOE and ECB expected to hold with attention to focus on inflation views amid recent oil spike. China manufacturing and non-manufacturing PMIs seen holding around 50.0 breakeven mark. Australia Q2 and June CPI may shape August rate hike expectations following last week's hot employment numbers. Japan month-end data to include unemployment rate, Tokyo CPI, industrial production and retail sales. South Korea trade data forecast to show another semiconductor-driven surge in exports.
