Oil price swinging as Tehran issued hardline demands before agreeing to reopen Strait of Hormuz. While Iran said deal with Oman is close, new demands, including compensation, unfreezing assets, lifting sanctions and withdrawing forces, considered unlikely to be acceptable to Washington. Discussion also noted underlying inflation approaching 2% with risk of an overshoot. China CPI inflation in July missed expectations and grew at slowest pace since January; PPI inflation also softened by more than expected to three-month low, largely reflecting drop in fuel prices with NBS also citing weather-related impacts.
