StreetAccount Summary - Asian Market Preview: Nikkei Futures +0.23%, Hang Seng Futures +0.46%, ASX SPI 200 +0.43%, S&P Futures +0.01%

Sep 02 ,2026

  • Synopsis:

    • Asian markets set for positive start to Thursday trade. Futures signaling opening gains in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Australia. S&P 500 futures flat after US indexes snapped three straight declines. Australian bonds firming after Treasury bull steepened. Dollar index steady after yen rebounded towards two-week high. Crude pulling back from earlier highs. Mild gains in gold and silver. Bitcoin unchanged.

    • In latest market developments, rate stabilization aided sentiment following recent yield volatility attributed to usual factors (deficits, inflation risks, corporate supply, oil, hawkish rate repricing). Abrupt yen spike invited speculation about fresh intervention though no signal from authorities action was undertaken. Yen spike followed another rise in JGB yields Wednesday on back of hawkish remarks from BOJ officials about prospect of quickening pace of rate hikes.

    • Crude stabilized following almost 10% rally this week due to resumption of US strikes, Iranian retaliation against commercial vessels and American bases across region. President Trump said not interested in negotiations though added strikes will be short-lived with aim of combating Iranian efforts to threaten ships in Strait of Hormuz. Heightened tensions fanning concerns about impact on crude supply and refined products with particular focus on diesel.
