Oct 12 ,2026

  • Synopsis:

    • Asian equities tracking for mostly negative start to Tuesday trade. Futures signaling opening declines in Japan and South Korea. Hong Kong tracking for flat start. S&P 500 futures flat afterhours. FX markets steady after dollar index rose to highest since Apr-2025. Crude trading just below earlier highs. Gold and silver unchanged in post-settlement trade. Bitcoin extending earlier pullback.

    • Memory selloff continued into the offshore session with SOX ending down 3%. Micron under particular pressure. Weakness attributed to weekend reports about CXMT's breakthrough in '4F Square' chip design enabling greater density with company eyeing end-2026 rollout. Meta a standout among big tech with Monday's rally put down to release of two new models, Muse Wonder's outperformance of leading models and Zuckerberg claiming company has caught up to frontier.

    • Oil rebounded from Monday's lows following weekend ramp in Saudi-Houthi hostilities and continued lack of traction in US-Iran negotiations. Diesel futures weakened following Trump's supply agreement with Moscow and Russia-Ukraine energy ceasefire claim. However, there was skepticism diesel deal will meaningfully address supply shortfall and ceasefire proving tenuous after Russia continued to strike Ukraine.
