Synopsis
European equity markets are set for a positive open amidst mixed Asia equities on Wednesday. Hong Kong and mainland China faded from a positive start, joining Australia as the laggards. South Korea extended a rally on the open -- Elice (015850-KR) up 30% after yesterday's debut slump -- Japan and Taiwan maintaining solid gains though off best levels. Regional sector skew aligning with respective benchmarks. Tech majors broadly higher in stronger markets, mixed elsewhere. US futures higher on the back of after-hours earnings, extending cash session strength.
Attention also on the crude oil reversal. Overnight declines were attributed to reports US and Iran are close to an agreement (subsequently reported as inaccurate) and mediation efforts to quell Houthi attacks though rebound in Asia came after another report indicating Iran dragging out US talks to weaken Trump's position ahead of the US midterm elections
