Oct 25 ,2026

  • Synopsis:

    • Asian markets set for a positive start to Monday trade. Futures signaling opening declines in Japan and South Korea, and a flat start in Hong Kong. S&P 500 futures flat. Australian bonds weakening after Treasury yields backed up on Friday. Crude retreating after rallying to one-month high. Gold and silver unchanged. FX markets steady after yen rose to one-month high against dollar. Bitcoin nearing mid-September low.

    • Oil pulling back from one-month high as expectations of a resumption of US-Iran conflict continue to build. President Trump repeated he is nearing decision on whether to resume hostilities unless Iran agrees to a deal. Diplomacy remains at a standstill with Iran sticking to its demands for reopening Strait of Hormuz and refusing to discuss nuclear file. Lot of discussion about economic ramifications with Iran threatening targets across Middle East if it is attacked.

    • Central banks headline a busy week on the calendar. Fed (Wed), ECB (Thurs) and BOJ (Fri) seen holding rates steady while rate hikes expected by RBNZ (Wed) and BOC (Wed). Australian inflation (Wed) follows hawkish-leaning RBA commentary ahead of November's meeting. Late week releases feature Tokyo CPI, Japan and South Korea industrial production and China PMIs. Big week of US earnings with Alphabet, Microsoft and Amazon the latest Mag 7 names to report.
